Who is Laura T. T. Ho?
Laura serves as the Director of Digital Trade Ecosystem at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Digital tasked to drive the digital transformation of the economy.
With over 20 years of experience in policy, regulatory and legal matters relating to digital economy, Laura’s expertise extends across domains such as Cyberlaws, Intellectual Property to Cross Border Trade Facilitation and Ecosystem Development in Digital Trade.
In her current role, she spearheads the strategic coordination and implementation of Malaysia’s National E-Commerce Strategic Roadmap by aligning diverse stakeholders across public and private sectors towards a common vision to ensure a more inclusive outcome. She is currently leading a review of the roadmap taking into account national priorities and global developments to pivot e-commerce towards digital trade, to enable businesses to thrive in the evolving digital landscape.
Laura is an active speaker on digital trade and e-commerce at prominent international platforms, sharing insights on the importance of interoperability and contributing to discussions on cross border digital trade agreements, and how governments can create enabling ecosystems for entrepreneurs.
In addition to her leadership role, Laura also advises on and participates in trade negotiations relating to e-commerce and digital trade at the international and regional levels, including at WTO, RCEP, ASEAN. She is passionate about the need for modern and updated rules to reduce barriers in digital trade in paving the way for businesses and consumers to make the most of the digital economy.
Laura brings her global outlook and broad experience to contribute to a more diverse and inclusive ecosystem of the digital economy.
